Norse Go 1-1 At Madison Grant

The Northfield baseball team split a pair of games at the Madison Grant Invite Saturday, defeating Madison Grant 12-6 before falling to Frankton 5-4.

In game one the Norse scored runs in each of the first five innings with the major blow coming in the fourth when they plated 4 runs. The Norse pounded out 15 hits, led by Jared Vigar who went 4 for 5 with 2rbi’s. Nate Drancik, Chance Hartman, Trevor Burnworth, Matt Coe and Braden Ripplinger all had 2 hits each.

Matt Coe got the win on the mound, going all 7 innings, allowing 11 hits and walking just 1. Coe gave up just 2 earned runs.

 

In game two the Norse led 4-3 heading to the bottom of the seventh when Frnkton scored twice to take the game 5-4. The Norse were out hit 11-6.

Cole Rosen led the Norse with 2 hits. Jared Vigar, Blake Harner, Matt Coe and Braden Ripplinger each had a hit.

Blake Harner started the game on the mound for the Norse, going 3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. Jonah Truman tossed 2 innings, giving up just 1 hit with Nate Drancik pitching an inning and taking the loss.
