The Manchester softball team continued their dominance in conference play Monday, defeating Northfield 6-2.
The Lady Squires would do most of their damage in the third inning when they plated 5 runs. Emma West led off with a single, followed by a Brooklyn Howard single. Cierra Carter then singled home West and Howard for a 2-0 lead. Kiera Stacy would then be hit by a pitch before Sydney Day reached on an error, scoring Carter for a 3-0 lead. Kennedy Fierstos would then ground out, driving home Stacy. With two outs Mattie McKee singled home Day for the 5th run. The Norse would get one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning. With two outs Kiana Kendall would reach on an error before a Shelby Ward single scored courtesy runner Haley Faust to make it 5-1.
Neither team would score again until the sixth when the Squires plated a run in the top of the inning. Emma West led off drawing a walk. Howard would then single with West being called out for leaving early. Howard would then steal second. With two outs Howard would advance to third on a passed ball before Stacy drove Howard home with a double for a 6-1 score. In the bottom of the Kendall would lead off with a single. With one out Ally Keaffaber singled with Kendall taking second. Jordan Shafer then reached on an error with Kendall scoring to make it 6-2. After a line drive out Michelle Hunt would be hit by a pitch before McKee recorded a strike out to get out of the inning.
