The Manchester Lady Squires were out hit 8-6 Wednesday, but took advantage of 4 Maconaquah errors to defeat the Braves 7-4 and wrap up another TRC championship and undefeated conference season for the second year in a row.
Maconaquah would give the Squires a scare early, plating a run in the first and 3 in the top of the second to grab a 4-0 lead. Manchester would answer in the bottom of the second with 3 runs of their own to make it 4-3. Kennedy Fierstos would lead off the inning with a single and was followed by an Ellie Milam walk. Mattie McKee would then bunt and reach on an error to load the bases. With one out Emma West would clear the bases with a double before two ground outs ended the threat with the Squires down one.
Manchester would still trail 4-3 until the bottom of the fifth when they took the lead. With one out Kiera Stacy would single and was followed by Sydney Day reaching on an error. A ground out made it two outs with runners on second and third when Stacy and Day scored on a passed ball to put the Squires up 5-4. Milam would then draw a walk, with McKee following reaching on an error before a pop up ended the inning.
The Squires would tack on 2 more runs in the sixth. West would reach on an error and was followed by a Brooklyn Howard single. Cierra Carter would then ground out, moving both runners a base before a Stacy walk loaded the bases. Sydney Day would then draw a walk to force home West to make it 6-4 before Fierstsos hit a fly ball to center with Carter tagging up and scoring the 7th run.
Howard would strike out the first two batters of the seventh, then get a ground out to end the game.
