The Northfield baseball team beat the rain and Northwestern Thursday, scoring 4 runs in the third to top the Tigers 8-4.
Northwestern would score a run in the top of the first with the Norse getting even in the bottom. With one out Braden Ripplinger would be hit by a pitch and remained on first with two outs when Jared Vigar singled. Matt Coe would then double home Ripplinger with Vigar being held up at third. Blake Harner would then draw a walk before a strike out ended the inning.
The Norse would grab the lead in the third when Chance Hartman led off with a triple and scored on a Vigar double. Vigar would advance to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a Brady Vigar double. Adam Smalley would then draw a walk before a Mccauley Miller triple cleared the bases for a 5-1 lead.
Northwestern would get a run back in the top of the fourth before the Norse got the run back in the fifth. With one out Harner would walk and was followed by a Brady Vigar single. With two outs Miller would walk to load the bases. Harner would then score on a wild pitch before Cole Rosen singled home Vigar for a 7-2 lead.
Northwestern would plate their last 2 runs in the sixth with the Norse getting one back in the bottom of the inning. With one out Jared Vigar would double and score on a Coe single for the 8-4 score.
