The Northfield softball team was suppose to host Oak Hill Friday for their senior night, but mother nature once again flooded the diamonds, so the Norse packed their bags and headed to Oak Hill to play on the artificial turf field. Although they were the visitors in the game, Oak Hill recognized the Northfield seniors and their families so they wouldn’t miss the special night. Unfortunately the Eagles weren’t as nice during the game as they defeated Northfield 7-3.
The Eagles would plate 2 runs in the second to grab a 2-0 lead before the Norse cut the lead in half in the fourth, then tied the game in the top of the fifth. In the fourth with one out Shelby Ward would single and was followed by birthday girl Ally Keaffaber, hitting a lazier over first to put runners on first and second. With two outs Alexis Taylor would walk to load the bases before Michelle Hunt singled home Ward to make it 2-1.
In the top of the fifth Ashley Koch would lead off with a single and was followed by a Kiana Kendall one out single. With two outs Keaffaber would hit another liner over the first baseman’s head to score Koch to tie the score 2-2. Oak Hill would then answer in the bottom, taking advantage of four walks, a hit batter and two hits to score 5 times and grab a 7-2 lead.
Northfield’s final run would come in the sixth when Olivia Taylor hit a shot against the strong wind over the center field fence for the 7-3 score.
