The Southwood Lady Knights tennis team was finally able to finish the Sectional Semifinals at Peru against the host Tigers Saturday. Southwood was trailing the match 1-2 and needed both #3 singles player Lorynn Hunt and the #1 doubles tandem of Brooke Wyatt/Emily Gwillim to rally from a set down.
Peru’s doubles team got off to a quick start by claiming the first 2 games to go up 4-1. Brooke/Emily had trouble holding serve today and dropped the second set 3-6 to give the Tigers the third team point.
Lorynn kept battling but her opponent was more consistent with her ground strokes and also win the second set 6-3.
Peru won the match 4-1
The Knights finish the season with a 6-15 record.
