While the Manchester offense was doing it’s thing Monday, scoring 13 runs on 10 hits Manchester pitcher Mattie McKee was dealing a gem, giving up just one hit in a 13-0 win over Wabash in the opening game of the Oak Hill softball sectional.
The Squires would do most of their damage in the first inning. Emma West led off the game drawing a walk and was followed by a Brooklyn Howard single. Both runners would steal a base before West scored on an error. Cierra Carter would then draw a walk before a Kiera Stacy single made it 2-0. With one out Kennedy Fierstos would single home Carter for a 3-0 lead before an Ellie Milam double scored 2 for a 5-0 lead. Erika Kendall would then reach on an error with Milam scoring to increase the lead to 6-0. With two outs West would walk and was followed by Howard reaching on an error with Kendall and West scoring for an 8-0 lead.
McKee had not allowed a hit until the fourth when Erika King singled to center before Mckee struck out the next two. In the top of the fifth with two outs Mackenzie Day would draw a walk and score on a West triple to make it 9-0.
In the sixth Carter would lead off being hit by a pitch. With one out Sydney Day would draw a walk. Fierstos would then lay down a bunt with the throw to first going array, with Carter, Day and Fierstos scoring for the 13-0 score.
With the win Manchester will now take on Whitko Wednesday.
