The Manchester High School Tennis Team ended their three game winning streak on Wednesday at the hands of the Peru Tigers. Peru was able to grab control early in a few of the contested matches and had the Squires playing on their heels. “We knew Peru was going to be a challenge tonight, but I am very pleased with our effort and competitive fire. We will bounce back,” said Head Coach Eric Screeton. The Peru lineup showed some real strength in singles as it took all three matches against the Squires in straight sets. Donathan, Trick, and Martin showed some signs of getting back into the match, but critical points and games went against them and thwarted any rally. The Squires Doubles team played some competitive matches as the #1 Doubles team of Wagoner and Parrett and #2 Doubles team of Shepherd and Lester had large leads in 3 of the 4 sets, but both pairs would lose in two. The Squires will return to action next Tuesday, August 29th vs. Bluffton High School in North Manchester.
