The Southwood football team with their high octane offense would travel to Northfield Friday, living up to their reputation by defeating the Norse 35-6.
The Knights offense wasn’t the only side of the ball to dominate Friday as the defense held Northfield high scoring offense to 206 yards. The Norse would get the ball first, collecting a couple first downs before the Knights clamped down and forced a punt. The first snap by the Knights was a fumble that they recovered before Carson Blair found Matt Nose on the next play for a 69yd scoring strike and a 7-0 lead.
With 9:35 left in the second the Knights would strike again when Blair would connect with Peyton Trexler for a 2yd score for a 14-0 lead. Needing a score badly to stop the Southwood momentum the Norse would march 57yds and score when Levi Fulkerson found Matt Coe from 40yds out with 7:52 left in the half to make it 14-6. With plenty of time on the clock the Knights would march down the field, starting at their own 24 and eating the clock when Blair would score with .09 left to make it 21-6 at the half.
The Knights would get the only two scores of the second half. In the third quarter Gabe Lloyd found pay dirt from 3yds out to make it 28-6. Blair and Trexler would hook up one more time in the fourth from 13yds away as the Knights defeated the Norse 35-6.
