The Southwood Harriers took to the course in their 3rd race of the season as they competed at the Marion Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday. Tackling an 8:30 start time on a crisp, cool morning, the gentlemen were charged and ready to run. In a very competitive field of 24 teams, the Knights pulled out a respectable 7th place overall finish.
Running number 1 for the Knights was Braden Sweet with an exceptional performance as he once again blew away his previous PR by 24 seconds. Braden earned a 5th place finish in a field of 169 runners in a time of 16:48. Senior veteran, Chase Guenin once again demonstrated a solid performance, earning an individual medal with an 11th place finish.
Running 3rd, 4th, and 5th man for the Knights were Cayden Prickett, Alix Winer, and Landon Topliff. Cayden ran a new PR of 18:49. Alix took a whopping 25 seconds of his previous time by running a 19:34. Landon continues to gain ground by setting a new season best time of 19:42.
Having an outstanding individual performance was Carson Kelley, running 6th man for the Knights. Carson came out strong setting a new PR of 19:53, taking a full 1 minute and 22 seconds off his previous PR set last week at Northfield.
Also competing for the Knights were Lamoine Silvers and Weslee Nelson. Following suit with the rest of their teammates, both young men set new PR’s with Lamoine running a 20:23 and Weslee a 23:03.
The duo of Morgan Farr and Monica Hobson competed at the Marion Invitational early Saturday morning. Farr finished the race with an 8th place finish in a field of 159 runners. Hobson ran a new personal record of 23:46 for a 73rd place finish.
