The Southwood 7th grade football team hosted Wabash Tuesday evening, coming away with a 40-6 victory. The 2-0 Knights broke a scoreless tie in the second quarter with a 27 yard touchdown run By Morgan Lloyd and 2-pt conversion to Kaden Rody. Lloyd followed with a 33 yard punt return for a TD and Braxton Worthington added the 2-pt conversion. Wabash scored to finish the half standing 16-6.
In the second half the Knights scored three times and shut down Wabash. Scoring were: Morgan Lloyd [50 yd run], Cole Winer [70 yd run], Isaiah Sutton [1 yd run]. Adding 2-pt conversions were Sutton , and Lloyd.
On defense the Knights disrupted Wabashâs efforts with three interceptions [ Isaiah Sutton 2, Elijah Staggs 1 ] and a fumble recovery by Kaden Rody. Jason Oprisek, Morgan Lloyd, Kaden Rody, Braxton Worthington, and Cole Winer lead the team in tackles.

The 8th grade football Knights made great strides in the second half of a 14-30 loss to Wabash. The game started with a Wabash score, followed by a drive where Joey Bland scored on an eight yard run to tie the game. After that, the Apaches ran free for the rest of the half taking a 24-6 advantage. In the second half the Knights looked like a different team on both offense and defense, scoring on a 33 yard pass from Joey Bland to Derrick Smith adding a 2-pt conversion, and holding Wabash to 6 points.
Top performances for the Knightâs offense were: Joey Bland connecting on 9 passes for 164 yards; Derrick Smith [77 yds ] and Tryce Hartley [ 62 yds ] receiving; Joey Bland [ 80 yds ] and Grant Holloway [ 17 yds ] rushing.
On defense Brady Buckler had several key tackles and Brayden Smith broke up a pass attempt to stop a Wabash drive.
Chase Lopez had 2 rushing touchdowns and a kickoff return for a touchdown. Mason Dillion also had 2 rushing touchdowns. Donovan Hensley and Wyatt Buzzard each had a fumble recovery.
