NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Junior midfielder/forward Maranda Birmingham (Kouts, Ind.) collected a team-high six shot attempts, while classmate Cami Holford (Valparaiso, Ind.) recorded the fourth double-digit save total of her career, spotlighting Manchester University’s non-league meeting with Rochester College of Michigan Wednesday, Sept. 6.
Birmingham fired six of the Black and Gold’s 11 tries with one finding the frame and narrowly missing the back of the Warriors’ net. Holford, facing a 26-11 shots advantage from the visitors, managed 11 saves over 90 minutes. However, Rochester’s offense struck quickly in the ninth minute to break a scoreless tie and then reeled off a pair of key scores within 15 minutes of halftime to widen the margin in route to a 5-0 victory.
Manchester University looks to break out of an early-season three-match skid Saturday, Sept. 9. They travel to Wilmington College of Ohio for an Ohio Athletic Conference – Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference battle. Kickoff on Townsend Field at Williams Stadium is 2 p.m.
