Northfield hosted Tippy Valley Thursday evening and in a tale of two halves, would prevail 20-13 over the Vikings.
The Norse would score early on a 41 yard touchdown pass from Clayton Tomlinson to Stan Summers. Valley would get even on the ensuing kickoff to make it 6-6. The Vikings then forced a turnover on downs to regain possession. After a lengthy drive, Valley would take a 13-7 lead into halftime. In the second half, each team would trade possessions until Blayne Powell would find the end zone on a 30 yard run. The 2 point conversation would fail as the Vikings clung to a 13-12 lead with 6:09 remaining in the game. Northfield’s defense would step up once again in the second half, setting up a great game winning drive. Tomlinson would go to work hitting Alex Haupert on an 11yd pass. He would then connect with Michael Fisher for 7 yards as Fisher would instantaneously pitch the ball to Haupert for an additional 27 yards. Tomlinson would then scramble for 26 yards and Seth Forsyth would score the game winner on a 6yd run.
