The Southwood football team built a 21-3 first half lead before giving up 23 unanswered points as they fell to North Miami 26-21 Friday.
The Knights wasted no time getting on the board when Carson Blair found Tony Ricketts from 12yds out to give Southwood a 7-0 lead. North Miami would answer with a field goal with 4:17 remaining in the quarter before Gabe Lloyd found pay dirt from 3yds out to lead 14-3 with 1:10 on the clock.
Southwood would extend their lead with 10:19 left in the second when Llloyd scored from a yard out as the Knights lead grew to 21-3 before things started to change. North Miami running back Tristan Working would make it 21-10 with 4:17 left in the half on a 42yd run. Connor Hanaway then kicked a 22yd field goal with .02 left to make it 21-13 at the half.
With the Knights having a hard time holding onto the ball, the Warriors would take advantage and score on a Zane Briggs 1yd run with 6:43 on the clock for the only score of the third quarter to cut the Knights lead to 21-20 heading to the fourth.
Again after a couple botched scoring attempts by the Knights, North Miami would capitalize. The Warriors would get a 56yd scoring run from Briggs with 2:31 left in the game to take a 26-21 lead and make it hold as they upset Southwood.
