Knights Out Gun Apaches

In was county match up night in Wabash County with Southwood taking the short jaunt to Wabash Friday. The Knights would put up 35 first half points in route to a 63-21 win over the Apaches.

The Knights would lead 14-0 after the first stop on a Carson Blair to Matt Nose 13yd touchdown pass and a Blair 11yd TD run. In the second Southwood would recover a fumble and take advantage of the turnover when Blair hooked up with Payton Trexler for a 66yd scoring strike and a 21-0 lead after the Parker Mays kick. The Apaches would then get on the board when Devon Higdon connected with Austin Wieland from 9yds out to cut the lead to 21-7. The Knights would respond. Blair found Nose from 9yds out for a 28-7 lead, then again from 12yds away as the lead grew to 35-7 at the half.

Southwood came out clicking in the third quarter. Gabe Lloyd would start the scoring with a 10yd run and was followed by a Blair to Trexler 9yd scoring pass to make it 49-7. Lloyd would find the end zone again in the third from 16yds out to increase the lead to 56-7 before Wabash scored and converted a two point conversion to make it 56-15 after three.

Wabash would make it 56-21 in the fourt on a 27yd scoring pass before Mason Yentes scored on a 25yd run for the 63-21 final.

  1. No doubt southwood is great team! We lost ball to score twice. 3 of 7 seniors hurt sucks including mind no excuse. Should of been better game! Wish them luck!
