Manchester Tennis Falls To Rochester

The Manchester Tennis Team finished the regular season with a very good Rochester team on Monday night, but came up a little short as the Zebras took the match 4-1. β€œIt was a disappointing way to end the regular season, but we will pick ourselves up and get ready for sectionals,” said Head Coach Eric Screeton. The Zebras started the action with wins at #1 Singles as Pomares-Perego beat Luke Donathan 6-1, 6-1 and #3 Singles Chase Brown defeated Kyle Shepherd 6-2, 6-2. Rochester got
the best of the Squires in some highly competitive doubles matches as well. #1 Doubles team of Pugh and Utter beat Parker Wagoner and Logan Parrett 6-4, 6-3 and the #2 Doubles team of McCarter and Meiser defeated Kam Lester and Quinn Martin 6-2, 6-3. The lone Squire win of the evening went to #2 Singles Spence Trick as he defeated Andrew Dunwoody 6-0, 6-0, making sure the Squires did not leave the night empty handed. β€œI thought we would have competed a little better, but we were able to discuss our mistakes, and then turn around leave the night on a positive note as we honored our lone senior Parker Wagoner. Parker has been a great teammate, and leader for our program and I really want to wish him the best in the future. He will be sorely missed,” added Screeton. The Squires will compete in Sectionals this Wednesday (9/27) at Thrush Courts in Peru starting at 5:00. The draw concluded this evening and will match up the Squires vs. Peru and Wabash vs. Maconaquah. The winners will meet on Thursday for the Championship.
