Black and Gold faces off with co-league-leading Franklin

Two of the three remaining unbeaten teams in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference dual play match up at Franklin College’s Mickel-Hoover Tennis Complex Saturday, Sept. 30.

Dual details: First serve is 11 a.m. … The two men’s teams also go head-to-head at that time.

Spartan Shorts: Coach Eric Christiansen’s team began its week with a resounding 9-0 win at Defiance College Sept. 27. The victory continued an amazing roll through the first three league duals, as the Black and Gold dropped one match in the span … Senior Katy Ashpole (Leesburg, Ind.) goes into the meeting with the Grizzlies as the only unblemished singles’ player (4-0). She and fellow senior Katie Peden (North Manchester, Ind.) have also yet to be scathed in doubles, sporting a 5-0 record … Freshman Karly Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.) is also a big reason for the Spartans’ 3-2 overall and 3-0 loop record. She is 4-1 in singles and joins Avis McGovern (North Vernon, Ind.), another freshman, to compile a 3-1 doubles mark … MU is back on the road following the Franklin dual, taking another southern journey as Hanover College is the destination Saturday, Oct. 7.
