The Manchester girls soccer team defeated South Adams 2-1 in the first round of sectionals Tuesday.
Both teams were scoreless through a tough and well fought the first half.
Emma Garriott came out strong in the second half scoring in the 37th minute off an assist from Julie Dalsager. South Adams then evened the score with 15:30 left in the half. Emma Garriott scored the final goal of the game two minutes later to put Manchester ahead 2-1. Kayla Metzger, Lex Donathan, Haley Clifford and Jirni Cripe played fantastic defense only allowing South Adams 10 shots.
Kiera Stacy had all 10 saves
Manchester will play Woodlan Thursday at 5:00.
