Cordill highlights Hanover trip

HANOVER, IND. – Senior Erin Cordill (Zionsville, Ind.) continued her unbeaten run in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday, Oct. 7.

Cordill, moving to 5-0 against the league, swept past the Panthers’ Meghan Farrell 6-1, 6-0 at Zeddies Tennis Complex on HC’s campus. She nearly had company regarding singles victories from some of her Manchester University teammates, as fellow Class of 2018 member Mariam Ali (Giza, Egypt) took Cami Jones to a superbreaker before falling 7-5, 5-7, 10-5.

The home side’s 8-1 victory was started by a sweep of doubles play. Coach Eric Christiansen’s crew, falling to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference, did get seven game wins from seniors Katie Peden (North Manchester, Ind.) and Katy Ashpole (Leesburg, Ind.) and freshmen Karly Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.) and Avis McGovern (North Vernon, Ind.) at number two and three.

Manchester University is back home at its outdoor courts Thursday, Oct. 12. First serve against Rose-Hulman is 3 p.m.
