NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University opens its fourth season of intercollegiate men’s and women’s swimming and diving competition Saturday, Oct. 21.

Meet details: MU is part of the field for the Indiana Intercollegiates, hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. The Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center is the host venue … Action begins at 12 p.m. … Live results are accessible via a link at, the Internet home of Manchester University athletics.

Spartan Shorts: Coach Mike Kroll’s teams offer some reliable options for good results at Purdue. “I feel like (junior) Guerby (Ruuska of Rensselaer, Ind.) and (sophomore) Christain (Poole of Anderson, Ind.) can do some good things in the sprints, while (freshman) Donnie (Rader of Lima, Ohio) has shown potential in the butterfly and individual medley on the men’s side,” he said. “For the women, (senior) Emily (Clark of Peru, Ind.) has been doing well in the water, while freshmen Shelby Kell (of Charlottesville, Ind.); Bailey Conder (of Greenwood, Ind.) and Katie Blystone (of Carmel, Ind.) have been performing well in practices and at our alumni event last weekend in the individual medleys and longer distances. Overall, Saturday will be used to look at energy individually and as a team on deck in either support or racing, as (assistant coach) Lukas (Jachno) and I went to see what these groups bring. It’s officially go time now … the starting point for both sides.” … Clark, Ruuska and junior Nathan Koch(Columbia City, Ind.) have previous success in the Indiana Intercollegiate field on their resumes. Clark registered a top 25 in the 100-yard butterfly and was part of the top 15 squads in the 200-yard freestyle relay, while Koch and Ruuska swam on a pair of top 20 relays in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley events.
