NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University senior student-athlete Erin Cordill(Zionsville, Ind.) led the all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s tennis honors, released Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Cordill became the third Spartans’ player to earn the MVP accolade, joining former standouts Breanna Metzger (1993/1994) and Kristen Frick (2004). The four-time all-league selection completed her fall season with an overall dual match record of 13-5 while finishing the conference season with a 13-1 mark. She went 7-2 overall and a perfect 7-0 against the loop at No. 1 singles and joined fellow all-conference honoree Mariam Ali (Giza, Egypt) to formulate a 6-3 overall and 6-1 league mark at No. 1 doubles.
Ali garnered her second first-team award. She went 5-6 overall and 4-3 against the HCAC at No. 2 singles and joined Cordill for the doubles numbers mentioned above.
Coach Eric Christiansen’s team, which turned in a 5-6 overall and 4-3 conference record as part of a fourth-place finish and eighth consecutive league postseason tournament bid, also had senior Katie Peden (North Manchester, Ind.) and freshman Karly Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.) compile honorable mention awards, and senior Katy Ashpole(Leesburg, Ind.) was placed on the Sportsmanship team. Peden’s honorable mention recognition was the third of her collegiate career.
