Knights Ground Flying Jets For Sectional Championship

The #4 Southwood Knights took the trip to Monroe Indiana Friday to take on #2 Adams Central in the sectional championship, grounding the Flying Jets to capture the sectional championship 50-27.

Adams Central would take the opening kick off and march 55yds for a touchdown for a 6-0 lead with the Knights quickly answering. Gabe Loyd would take the first play 25yds before Carson Blair hooked up with Peyton Trexler for 43yds and a 7-6 lead. The Southwood defense would then make adjustments before Trexler forced a fumble and raced 38yds to lead `14-6. The next Adams Central possession ended with an Elijah Sutton interception that led to a Blair to Matt Nose touchdown and a 21-6 lead after one.

Adams Central would cut the Knights lead to 21-12 with 6:04 left in the half when Lloyd broke loose down the left sideline for 68yds and a 28-12 lead. The Knights would tack on one more score with 56.1 seconds left on a Blair to Trexler 17yd strike for a 35-12 halftime lead.

Both defenses would tighten up in then third when the first two scores of the quarter came from the Southwood special teams. Parker Mays would make a 32yd field goal before the Flying Jets made the mistake of punting to Trexler on the next possession who busted a couple tackles and soared 57yds and a 44-12 lead. Adams Central would score with 1:16 left as the Knights led 44-20 with a quarter to go.

The Knights would waste no time squashing any Adams Central hopes early in the fourth when Blair found Nose from 27yds out to grab a 50-20 lead with 10:27 left. Adams Central would get the final score of the game for the 50-27 final.
