Harris concludes memorable senior slate

ELSAH, ILL. – Just as he seemingly did at every turn of the 2017 collegiate men’s cross country campaign, Manchester University senior Blake Harris (Fort Wayne, Ind.) managed another program accolade, this time at the NCAA Division III Championships Saturday, Nov. 18.

Circling the North Farm Facility course on the Principia College campus, Harris crossed the finish line in 25:21.8, good for 75th place in the 279-competitor field. His time was a new career personal best and ranked among the school’s top 10 to help highlight the best individual ending for a Spartans’ men’s runner at the Division III level.

The University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire’s Darin Lau bested the meet field by nearly nine full seconds to claim the individual title (24:03.59). North Central College of Illinois’ powerhouse regime continued to roll along, putting three runners in the top eight for a 57-point team total that easily won the championship, as the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse was a distant second (196).
