The Northfield girls basketball team played host to Peru in a TRC match up Monday, controlling the game from start to end in a 56-32 win over the Tigers.
Peru would take a 2-0 lead on a bucket from Kelsie Kelley before Abbey Ross tied the game before Ariel Dale hit a three for a 5-2 Northfield lead. At 5-3 Ross would hit from down town, followed by buckets from Kelsie Tomson and Ally Keaffaber to make it 11-3 before Kelley ended the quarter with a bucket for a 11-5 score.
Angel Parks would make it 11-6 to start the second quarter before Dale and Thomson made it 15-6. Harmoni Stone would then get in the books for the Tigers before the Norse scored 6 straight on a three point play from Thomson and a three from dale to make it 21-8 at the half.
Melanie Beery would get the first bucket of the third quarter before the Tigers got two buckets from Kelley and a free throw from Maegan Sinkovics to make it 23-13. Dale would then score five straight to open a 28-13 lead before trading buckets with Sinkovics for a 30-15 score. At 30-19 after four Kelley free throws Dale would hit a three at the buzzer to make it 33-19 with a quarter to go.
Parks and Sinkovics would get the first two buckets of the fourth quarter to make it 33-23 when the Norse went running. Dale would hit her third three of the game, followed by a floater from Keaffaber down the lane then two more buckets from Dale, one being a three to increase the Norse lead to 43-23. Angel Parks would stop the Northfield run with a bucket before Addi Baker hit, followed by Dale, Thomson and Ross to make it 51-25. At 51-29 Thomson would hit Northfield’s 6th long ball of the game in route to the 56-32 win.

The Northfield junior varsity defeated Peru 54-15.
