Spartan Shorts: Manchester University was held off by Ohio Athletic Conference foe Muskingum University 76-66 Nov. 22 in their most recent action … The trio of sophomore guard Nicole Weaver (Fort Wayne, Ind.); junior forward/center Beth Schaefer (Fort Wayne, Ind.); and freshman guard Mikalia Taylor (Connersville, Ind.) each produced double-figure scoring efforts against the Fighting Muskies. Weaver recorded her fifth career and second such scoring effort in the last three contests, draining four three-pointers in route to 17 points. She also dished out three assists and picked off a pair of Muskingum pass attempts. Schaefer continued to impress with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor wasn’t far off her first collegiate double-double tallying 12 points and nine boards … Weaver’s recent play has led her to be among the league’s top 10 in scoring (13.7 ppg – No. 7) and three-point shooting (nine-of-22 – No. 2). Schaefer is just outside the similar territory in rebounding (5.7 pg – No. 11) and free throw percentage (66.7 – No. 11) … MU takes to the road to start league action Saturday, Dec. 2, against Mt.
