CHICAGO, ILL. – Manchester University completed its 2017 fall season with a sterling performance Saturday, Dec. 2.
Coach Mike Kroll’s Spartans compiled 77.75 points in a five-team field at Illinois Tech’s Ted Eriksen Invitational. Five season-best times helped lead the way along with junior diver Anjel Clemente (Rensselaer, Ind.) tying for the top spot in the one-meter competition.
The top marks occurred in distance and sprint events. Freshman Kole Kelley (Decatur, Ind.) clocked a 6:21.33 in the 500-yard freestyle and 13:09.84 in the 1000-yard freestyle; junior Guerby Ruuska (Rensselaer, Ind.) swam a 2:24.71 in the 200-yard backstroke and 2:34.53 in the 200-yard butterfly; and sophomore Christain Poole (Anderson, Ind.) hit the pad in 2:15.85 in the 200-yard individual medley. Poole and Ruuska combined for five top-five finishes to add to the Black and Gold’s point total.
MU is scheduled to begin its winter season Saturday, Jan. 13, with a dual at Ohio Athletic Conference member Wilmington College.
