The Southwood Lady Knights played host to Maconaquah Tuesday, racing out to a healthy lead early in route to a 44-25 win over the Braves.
Maconaquah would take a 2-0 lead on a Brittany Lamb bucket before Southwood responded with a 12-0 run. Makenna Pace would hit twice with one coming from behind the arch and scored 9 points during the run. Morgan Farr would hit a free throw while Erin Lehner added a bucket. The Knights led 12-2. McKenna Wilson would stop the run with a bucket before Kalya Mays scored and was followed by Farr scoring off a rebound as Southwood led 15-4 after one.
The Knights would extend their lead early in the second, getting a free throw from Farr and two from Pace. Kirsten Dinn would make it 18-6 with two free throws before a Lehner three made it 21-6. At 21-9 after a three point play from Wilson the Knights would finish the quarter with 7 straight points to lead 28-10 at the half.
Mays and Alissa Pershing would score early in the third for the Knights as the lead grew to 35-10. With Southwood leading 35-12 Sydney Helfin would hit back to back buckets to make it 39-12 before McKenna Wilson and Madison Wilson each hit to make it 39-16 after three.
Pace would get the first bucket of the fourth quarter before the Wilson’s each hit to make it 40-20. Maggie Ball would get on the board for the Knights and was followed by Makayla Bechtold to make it 44-20 before two McKenna Wilson free throws, a free throw from Madison Wilson and a bucket from Hayleigh Cole made the final score 44-25.
