The Southwood Knights rode a 28-0 run in route to throttling Tippecanoe Valley 79-47 Friday.
The Knights would grab a 2-0 lead on a Peyton Trexler bucket before Valley answered with a three for a 3-2 lead which would be their only lead of the game as the Knights responded in a big way. Dallas Holmes would convert a three point play and was followed by a Matthew Nose bucket to grab a 7-3 lead and led 12-9 when the flood gates opened. Trexler would hit two straight buckets, followed by Holmes and a three from Carson Blair as the the Knights scored 9 straight to end the quarter leading 21-9.
The run would continue to start the second with Southwood scoring the first 19 points of the quarter. Southwood got points from Trexler, Nose, Ethen Roberts and Blair as the lead ballooned to 40-9 before a Valley bucket. Southwood used the long ball in the quarter as Trexler hit two with Blair and Nose each adding a long ball. The Knights led 49-20 at the half.
Matt Nose would make it 51-20 to start the third quarter before slowing the pace a little. Leading 55-30 Trexler would excite the crowd with a dunk with the Knights leading 58-35 after three.
The Knights would trade buckets with Valley for much of the fourth quarter until one last run. Up 68-45 Southwood would score 11 straight which included two long balls from Gabe Lloyd, plus two buckets from Braden Barney. Luke Winer added two free throws.
