The Wabash Lady Apaches played host to a much taller North Miami squad Saturday, giving up 23 offensive rebounds and falling to the Warriors 46-38.
North Miami would grab a 2-0 lead on an Adria Hartley bucket that was quickly answered by a Bailey Yoakum three to put Wabash up 3-2. Hanna Hall would give the Warriors a 4-3 lead when Carmen Higdon answered for a 5-4 lead. North Miami would then go inside, getting buckets from Hartley and Hall with an added three from Bailey Keim to score 8 straight and grab a 12-5 lead. Yoakum would bring the Apaches back with 5 straight for a 12-10 score before Caily Bolser and Hartley hit back to back to give North Miami a 16-10 lead after one.
The Warriors would continue to increase their lead to start the second, getting an offensive rebound bucket from Bolser and a three point play from Kayla Kraning to open a 21-10 lead. Mariah Wyatt would stop the run with a free throw before Bolser scored again off a rebound and was followed with a Taylor Tinney free throw to make it 24-11. The Apaches would respond before the half, getting a free throw and a bucket from Alivia Short, plus a free throw each from Yoakum and Wyatt to cut the deficit to 24-16 at the half.
Hannah Hall would hit two free throw to start the third quarter before Higdon hit a three, followed by a Abby Vinopal bucket to make it 26-21. Bolser would make it 28-21 before the Apaches closed the gap even more, getting two straight buckets from Vinopal and one from Yoakum to make it 28-27. The Warriors would answer the Wabash run with one of their own to close the quarter. MaryAnn Freeman would score off a rebound and hit again to lead an 8-0 run to give North Miami a 36-27 lead with a quarter to go.
Bailey Yoakum would make it 36-30 to start the fourth as Wabash scored 6 of the quarters first 8 points to make it 38-33. With 5:21 left in the game the Wabash bench would be called for a technical foul with Keim hitting both free throws to make it 40-33. Yoakum would would then convert a three point play for a 40-36 score before Hartley hit, followed by a rebound basket from Freeman to open a 44-36 lead. Yoakum would trade free throws with a Bolser bucket to make it 45-38 before foul trouble plagued both teams. The last point of the game came off a Freeman free throw as North Miami defeated Wabash 46-38.
