After being delayed by weather the Wabash and Peru girls basketball teams would get to finish their regular season Monday with the Lady Apaches playing host. Wabash would never trail, but was threatened in the third before responding with a 15-1 run in route to a 62-44 win.
Wabash would score the first 12 points of the game. Hope Unger got things start with a three with Bailey Yoakum adding two deuces and a three. Carme Higdon also scored during the run. Kelsie Kelley would stop te run with a free throw to make it 12-1 before Unger hit again. Alivia Short would sandwich a bucket between a Julia Weeks free throw and a Courtlynn Crowe free throw to make it 16-3 after one.
Caitlyn Mongosa would get the first bucket of the second quarter which was also the Tigers first bucket of the night with Higson answering to make it 18-5. Peru would then get a three and a two from Crowe to close the deficit to 18-10 when Unger hit from behind the arch for a second time. Wabash was leading 26-16 when Kelley was called for a foul and a technical. The free throws on the foul were missed before Unger hit both technical free throws to make it 28-16 at the half.
The third quarter would be the tale of two halves. The first half of the quarter Peru would go to Harmoni Stone and Kelley to make it 30-24 before Higdon stopped the bleeding. The Tigers kept coming however, still feeding the duo as they cut the Wabash lead to 34-32 before the Apaches came up with an answer. The Apaches would respond with an 11-0 run that was led by Yoakum and Mariah Wyatt to open a 45-32 lead. Crowe would stop the run with a free throw before Tabitha Wagner hot back to back shots to make it 49-33 after three.
Harmoni Stone and Abby Vinopal would trade points early in the fourth quarter as Wabash led 55-38 when Crowe hit a bucket and two free throws for a 55-42 score. Yoakum and Higdon made it 58-42 before Peru started fouling with Yoakum and Unger hitting free throws down the stretch to seal the 62-44 win.
