Squires Win Fifth Straight At Northfield

The Manchester Squires remained on a roll Thursday, winning their 5th game in a row by defeating county rival Northfield 71-61.

Northfield would grab a 2-0 lead on a bucket from Joe Halderman before the Squires scored 6 straight. Kam Lester would tie the score before Koehl Fluke and Weston Hamby gave Manchester a 6-2 lead. Kyle Reed would then make it 6-5 after three straight free throws before the Hamby brothers, Weston and Mason made it 10-5. Logan Peas would then drain a three for a 10-8 score with Brayden Casper ending the scoring in the quarter with Manchester leading 13-8.

Andrew McAtee would get the first bucket of the second quarter to make it 15-8. The Norse would answer with a free throws from Cole Rosen and Jared Peas for a 15-10 score. The Squires would extend their lead to 18-10 off a Casper bucket and a free throw form Lester before Reed made it 18-12. At 20-17 the Squires would go on a run, scoring 11 straight to open a 31-17 lead. Jared Peas would end the quarter with a three as Manchester led 31-20 at the half.

Koehl Fluke would hit a three to start the third quarter before Reed made it 34-22. A Casper bucket and two Mason Hamby free throws made the score 38-22 when Halderman hit, followed by a Jared Peas three to close the deficit to 38-27. At 40-28 Manchester would get a free throw and a three point play from Mason Hamby, followed by a Weston Hamby bucket to make it 46-28. Joe Halderman would then hit a deuce and a three for a 46-33 score. Manchester led 50-36 after three.

The two teams would trade points for most of the fourth quarter until 69-54 when Logan Peas hit twice along with two Daniel Driscoll free throws to close the gap to 69-60 before the Squires went on to win 71-61.
