A quartet of Manchester University student-athletes graced the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference softball preseason “Players to Watch” announcement with its release Friday, Feb. 2.
Senior infielder Laurren Ladwig (Crown Point, Ind.); junior infielders Mandi Boggs (Frankfort, Ind.) and Kate Skeens (Gas City, Ind.) and sophomore infielder/outfielder Shakira Perez (Elkhart, Ind.) were the Black and Gold honorees. Manchester University, coming off a 13-25-1 overall and 3-13 league mark in 2017, earned 29 points in the coaches’ poll, good for a predicted eight-place finish. Defending champion Transylvania University was tabbed to repeat garnering 88 poll points and eight first-place votes with Anderson University second (73 ranking points).
MU begins its 2018 campaign with the annual Florida spring break games March 18-23.
