Huge Third Quarter Lifts Norse Past North Miami

The Northfield Norse used a 12-0 start to the third quarter and out scored North Miami in the third 23-7 to defeat the Warriors 60-34 Wednesday.

Northfield would get the first bucket of the game on a Logan Peas three pointer before Tristan Working made it 3-2. Kyle Reed would then make it 6-2 before a Malachi Sanderson three for a 6-5 score. Jared Peas would then start a 7-0 run by the Norse with buckets also coming from a Joe halderman three and deuce form Cole Rosen. Two Working free throws made it 13-9 before Jared Peas scored off an offensive rebound to give Northfield a 15-9 lead after one.

Reed would make it 17-9 to start the second quarter before two Patrick Masters free throws. The Norse would answer with 7 straight that started with a Halderman bucket as Northfield led 24-11 when Working and Noah Goulette hit, followed by a Nate Hill free throw to cut the deficit to 24-16. Reed would do the rest of the scoring in the quarter which included two free throws with no time on the clock as Northfield led 28-16 at the half.

The third quarter would be the dagger. Reed would hit to start a 12-0 run with Halderman and both Peas scoring as the lead grew to 40-16. Working would stop the run with a bucket. Northfield led 45-19 after a Nate Drancik bucket before Masters and Working made it 45-22. Drancik would then score again off a rebound and was followed with two free throws and a bucket from Clayton Tomlinson giving the Norse a 51-23 lead after three.

Masters would start the scoring in the fourth with two free throws before Crancik and Daniel Driscoll made it 55-25. With Northfield leading 60-27 the Warriors would score the last 7 points of the game with Northfield winning 60-34.
