Spartans picked in HCAC top five

Manchester University earned 50 ranking points and a predicted top-five finish on the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s preseason coaches poll, released Thursday, Feb. 8.

The Spartans rounded out the first five with their total, trailing Franklin College by just three points for fourth. Three-time conference champion Rose-Hulman topped the poll with 77 points and five first-place votes followed closely by Earlham College (75 points – three first-place votes). MU’s senior trio of Garrett Bear (Indianapolis, Ind.)Isaac Collis(Alexandria, Ind.) and Spencer Thomas (Franklin, Ind.) joined junior Connor Eichenauer(North Manchester, Ind.) on the Players to Watch list.

Manchester University’s 2018 spring schedule opens Sunday, Feb. 25, versus Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponent Alma College.
