ANDERSON, IND. – The underclassman duo of freshman sprinter Travis Murr (Franklin, Ind.) and sophomore jumps specialist Austin Roberts (Indianapolis, Ind.) gave Manchester University fans reasons to smile Saturday, Feb. 17.
Murr raced to runner-up efforts in the 60 meter dash (7.07 seconds) and 200 meter dash (22.67 seconds) with the 200 clocking breaking his former record of 22.85. Roberts picked up the third and final top two mark for Coach Brian Cashdollar’s squad at Anderson University’s Kardatzke Wellness Center, soaring to 6.34 meters in the long jump.
Digging further into the Black and Gold’s 71-point team total which placed them fourth on the final standings, senior sprinter Harrison Hollis (Lebanon, Ind.) was close behind his teammate in the 60 (7.16 seconds) with junior Austin Coughlin (Fairland, Ind.) making it a two-through-four sweep with a 7.16-second finish; Coughlin added a fourth in the 200 (23.14 seconds); and the trio joined freshman Nick Surber (Hebron, Ind.) for a third-place and school record time of 1:31.99 in the 4×200.
The Spartans continue the 2018 season returning AU for third time Saturday, Feb. 24, as part of the Fred Wilt Invitational field.
