The Southwood Knights sent a message Tuesday night that they are to be reckoned with in the Lafayette Central Catholic sectional, scoring 40 points in the first quarter in route to a 97-31 win over Clinton Central.
Peyton Texler would score the first 8 points of the game and 23 points in the quarter as the Knights grabbed a 40-6 lead after one. Trexler hit 5 three pointers in the quarter and added a couple dunks to cap it off. Matt Nose would also find the range from behind the arch, hitting two long balls and scoring 12 points. Carson Blair added the 8th three pointer of the quarter for the Knights while Dallas Holmes added a bucket.
Going to their bench early the Knights kept rolling. Seven different players would score in the quarter with Trexler leading the way with 5 points. Nose would add another three along with Ethan Roberts. Blair, Luke Winer, Brayden Barney and Jackson Simons all added points. Southwood won the quarter 24-6 and led 64-12 at the half.
Dallas Holmes would carry the load in the third,scoring 11 points with Roberts adding his second three of the game. Nose, Trexler and Simons each added a bucket. The Knights led 84-25 after three.
The Southwood reserves would play the entire fourth quarter and out scored Clinton Central 13-6. Barney and Simons would score 4 points each with Quentin Perry adding a three. Gabe Lloyd also added a bucket.
