Junior men’s guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore women’s guard Nicole Weaver (Fort Wayne, Ind.) spotlighted Manchester University’s appearance on the 2018 all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference teams announced Feb. 27 and 28.
Johnson, earning his third straight loop award, was a second-team selection. As part of a season in which he registered his third consecutive 400-point-plus total, the program’s 29th member of the 1,000-point club ranked second in scoring (18.8 ppg); third in assists (4.4 apg) and tied for ninth in steals (1.1 spg) in the league. His 1,379 points rank seventh all-time, and Johnson enters his final season in the Black and Gold 208 shy of the top five. The Spartans, winding up 6-19 and 4-14 in the HCAC, also placed senior guard Brody Kirby (Frankfort, Ind.) on the Sportsmanship team.
Weaver, an honorable mention honoree, led MU (7-18 overall, 6-12 HCAC) in scoring (11.8 ppg) and assists (2.7 pg) which ranked 13th and seventh, respectively, in the conference. Appearing in all 25 games this season, she compiled a second successive three-figure scoring total (295 points) which included 17 double-digit game figures. Junior guard Isabella Zoog (Brownsburg, Ind.) was tabbed the team’s Sportsmanship awardee.
