Back on March 26th the Northfield Lady Norse defeated the Southwood Lady Knights in five innings. On Monday the Lady Knights got their revenge, topping the Lady Norse 12-1 in five innings.
Southwood pitcher Makenna Pace held the Norse at bay while the Knights bats took care of business. In the first Kassity Simpson would lead off drawing a walk before Turner sacrificed Simpson to second. Pace would then double to center, scoring Simpson foe a 1-0 lead. The Norse would get singles from Michelle Hunt and Ally Keaffaber in the bottom of the inning but couldn’t punch home a run.
The Knights bats would come alive in the third. Olivia Adams led off with a walk before Simpson reached on an error with Adams scoring. With one out Pace would single home Simpson to make it 4-0 before a Tabitha Thomas single put runners on first and second. With two outs Kayla Mays would hit a shot to the left field fence that chased home Thomas and Simpson to increase the Knights lead to 5-0. Erin McGouldrick would follow reaching on an error with Mays scoring to make it 6-0.
Southwood would keep the gas pedal down in the fourth. Simpson would lead off with a double. With one out Pace would reach on an error to put runners on the corners before Thomas hit a shot that cleared the left field fence for a three run home run and a 9-0 lead. The Norse would get a run in the bottom of the inning when Elise Gottschalk led off with a double and was ran for by Emma Hoover. A ground would chase Hoover home to make it 9-1.
In the fifth with one out Simpson would single and was followed by Thomas reaching on an error. Pace would follow reaching on an error to score Simpson before a Thomas single drove home Pace for a 12-1 lead.
