The Manchester Lady Squires jumped on Tippecanoe Valley early and held on for a 7-4 win over the Vikings Monday.
Emma West would lead off the first being hit by a pitch and was tripled home by Allie Sites for a 1-0 lead. Mackenzie Day would follow with a ground out that scored Sites to lead 2-0. Kiera Stacy would then single and advance clear to third on a throwing error before a Carson Howard single scored Stacy to lead 3-0.
Manchester would add to their lead in the second when Torina Runkel led off with a double and was sacrificed to third by Mattie McKee. Kahn would then ground out with Runkel scoring to make it 4-0.
In the fifth Sites would hit a one out single. With two outs Stacy would double home Sites as the lead grew to 5-0.
Valley would make things interesting in the top of the sixth when they plated 4 runs to close the gap to 5-4, but the Squires would respond in the bottom. McKee would hit a one out double and stand on second with two outs when West doubled to make it 6-4. Sites would follow with a single to score West for a 7-4 lead.
Valley would threaten in the seventh, getting on base on an error and a walk before McKee struck out the final batter.
