The Southwood baseball team picked up a big TRC win Wednesday, visiting Manchester and defeating the Squires 3-1.
In a pitchers dual where each team collected just 6, the Knights made them count. Southwood would take the lead in the second when Cam Ball hit a one out single before advancing on an error. Alex Farr would then be hit by a pitch. Ball would then br thrown out at third trying to steal with Farr taking second before a Tristin Hayslett single scored Farr for a 1-0 lead.
The game would remain 1-0 until the sixth when the Squires tied the game. Mason Roberts would lead off with a single before Trey McNall was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice by Lassiter would move both runners a base before a Grant Strobel single scored Shepherd to make it 1-1. Two ground outs would end the threat.
In the seventh Ball would lead off with a single with courtesy runner Ty Roser being forced out at second on a fielders choice. With Farr standing on first with two outs after a strike out Tanner Hartley would draw a walk before a Carson Rich single drove home Farr for a 2-1 lead. Mason Yentes would then be hit by a pitch. Hartley would follow scoring on a wild pitch for a 3-1 lead. The Squires threatened in the bottom of the inning. Hayes Sturtsman would draw a lead off walk and was followed by a Jeremiah Airgood single. A ground out and two straight fly outs would end the game.
