The Northfield baseball team hit three home runs in a 10-1 win over Caston Thursday. Nate Drancik hit two bombs with Braden Ripplinger adding a shot.
Caston would take a 1-0 lead in the first which would end up being their only run. In the bottom of the second the Norse would grab the lead. Drancik would lead off the inning with his first home run to tie the score before Cole Rosen hit a two out triple. Rosen would then score on a wild pitch for a 2-1 lead.
In the third Drancik would hit his second shot with one out to lead 3-1. Northfield would tack on a fourth run in the fourth. Chance Hartman would lead off the inning with a single and advance to third on a bad throw from the outfield. Hartman would later score on a wild pitch for a 4-1 lead.
In the fourth Drancik and Hunter Cox would lead off the inning with back to back walks before a sac bunt from Jacob Truman moved both runners a base. Rosen would follow with an infield hit with the runners staying put to load the bases. The Norse would quickly score 3 runs with Drancik scoring on a wild pitch before Rosen did the same. Hartman would then double home Clayton Tomlinson for a 7-1 lead.
Northfield would all but end the game in the sixth. With one out Braden Ripplinger would hit a shot over the left center field fence for a 9-1 lead before Drancik drew a walk. Cox would follow with a single with Drancik stopping at third before Truman drove Drancik home with a single. The last run would come off a Rosen single driving home Cox.
