The Southwood Lady Knights went 1- at the Panther Classic Saturday. falling to Sheridan 12-0 before defeating the Indiana School for the Deaf 12-2.
In game one the Lady Knights collected just 4 hits and committed 6 errors as Sheridan scored in every inning, Madelyn Turner, Makenna Pade, Kayla Mays and Hayley Bland each had a hit.
In game two it was the Knights doing most of the scoring and doing a bunch of it in the second inning. The score was tied 2-2 heading to the second when the Knights exploded for 8 runs. Mays would lead off the inning with a single and was followed by Hayley Bland reaching on an error. Mays would score on a wild pitch with Bland eventually scoring on an Erin McGouldrick ground out. Makayla Bechtold would then walk right before a Kassity Simpson two run shot over the center field fence made it 6-2. Turner would get things started again being hit by a pitch before a Pace walk. Turner would be caught trying to steal before Pace reached third on two wild pitches. A Tabitha Thomas single drove home Pace for a 7-0 lead. Keagan Simpson would then double before a Mays walk loaded the bases. Bland then found a gap in right center to clear the bases for a 10-2 lead.
The Knights would score solo runs in the fourth and fifth to end the game in five innings
