The Wabash Apaches played host to Southwood Monday, grabbing a 4-0 lead before scoring three runs in the sixth to defeat the Knights 7-5.
Wabash would grab a 4-0 lead in the third. With one out three straight singles by Bryant Boggs, Robert Irgang and Trenton Daughtry gave the Apaches a 1-0 lead. Kallen Kelsheimer would drive home the second run with a fly ball before a Clayton Floor single made it 3-0. A Jared Holley double scored Floor as Wabash led 4-0.
The Knights would cut the Wabash lead in half in the fourth. With Gabe Lloyd on fsecond after a walk and a ground out Tristin Hayslett would single home Lloyd to make it 4-1. Kelley would follow with an rbi single to make it 4-2.
Southwood would grab the lead in the fifth. Clayton Wells would lead off with a single and was followed by a Logan Barley walk. With one out Alex Farr would triple to left center with both runners scoring to make it 4-4. With two outs Farr would score on a wild pitch to give the Knights a 5-4 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth Blake Gribben would lead off with a single and was followed by a Reece Samons single. Kory Fuller would then single home both runners to give Wabash a 6-5 lead. With one out Irgang would single to left, scoring Fuller for the 7-5 lead.
The Knights would get their lead off batter on to start the seventh before Fuller shut down the Knights for the 7-5 win.
