The Lady Knight Netters hosted the Bruins of Blackford HS Wednesday evening in a rescheduled nonconference match. The persistent and gusty wind proved to be a difficult challenge for both teams, but the Knights managed to battle through the elements to pull out another 3-2 victory.
Kyrstin Gouveia/Courtney Andrick got the Knights on the board first with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 win at #2 doubles. The continually improving Allison Steele gave the Knights a 2-0 lead with a tidy 6-2,6-2 win at #3 singles. Drue Gentry lost 0-6,4-6 at #1 singles. At #1 doubles, Emily Gwillim/Haleigh Snyder cruised to a set 1 win of 6-1, but lost focus and dropped set 2 3-6. They were able to regroup and took set 3 6-3 to give the Knights the team victory. At #2 singles, Lorynn Hunt won a close first set 6-4, but lost set two 2-6 and ultimately lost a third set super tiebreaker 5-10 to make the final match score 3-2.
The Knights move to 7-10 and travel to Tippecanoe Valley Thursday evening. There was no JV contest as Blackford did not have any more players available.
