The Manchester Squires scored three runs in the first inning before giving up five in the third in a 7-6 loss to Maconaquah Wednesday.
In the first Grant Strobel led off with a walk before taking second on a passed ball and scoring on a Mason Meyer single. Kaleb Fluke would follow with a single before Meyer scored on an error for a 2-0 lead. Hayes Sturtsman would then reach on an infield single before Fluke scored on a Jeremiah Airgood single for a 3-0 lead. Maconaquah would get one run back in the bottom of the inning to make it 3-1.
The Braves would take the lead in the third, scoring 5 times to grab a 6-3 lead before the Squires got a run back in the fifth. Strobel would lead off with a single and was followed by a Meyer walk. With two outs Airgood would single to short with Strobel scoring to make it 6-4. The Braves would get the run back in the bottom of the inning for a 7-4 lead.
In the seventh Strobel would lead off drawing a walk and take second on a passed ball before a Meyer double scored Stroble to make it 7-5. With Meyer standing on third with no outs Fluke would single to second, scoring Meyer to cut the lead to 7-6. The Braves would then turn a double play and force a fly out to end the game.
