The Wabash Apaches out hit Carroll 11-5 Saturday but it took a walk off single from Blake Gribben in the eighth to give the Apaches the win 5-4.
Carroll would grab a 2-0 lead in the top of the third with the Apaches getting one of the runs back in the bottom. Kory Fuller would lead off the inning with a single and advance to second on a wild pitch. Robert Irgang would then single with Fuller being held up at third before scoring on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.
The Apaches would tie the game in the fifth. With one out Levi Hall would draw a walk before being caught trying to steal second. With two outs Trenton Daughrty would hit a double to center with Irgang scoring for a 2-2 score.
Carroll would make things tough on Wabash in the seventh, scoring 2 times to grab a 4-2 lead, but the Apaches would respond in the bottom of the inning. Blake Gribben would lead off with a single and was followed by a Bryant Boggs walk. Irgang would then walk to load the bases with no outs before a Daughtry single scored Gribben. Still with no outs Kallen Kelsheimer would hit a fly ball to left with Boggs tagging to make it 4-4. A fly out and a runner caught trying to steal home would end the threat.
In the bottom of the eighth Jared Holley would lead off with a single before being forced out at second on a Reece Samons grounder. Fuller would then single with Samons rounding second and taking third before a Gribben walk off single scored Samons for the 5-4 win.
