The Northfield Norsemen got off to a slow start and trailed 4-1 heading to the fifth inning before scoring 2 runs in each of the last three innings for a 7-6 win at Rochester Monday.
The Norse would plate a run in the first inning. Clayton Tomlinson led off with a single before scoring with two outs when Matt Coe reached on an error. Rochester would answer in the bottom of the inning with 3 runs and score another in the third to lead 4-1 heading to the fifth.
In the top of the fifth Cole Rosen would hit a one out single before a Tomlinson walk. With runners on second and third Chance Hartman would drive both home Rosen to make it 4-2. Blake Harner would then double with Tomlinson scoring and Hartman being thrown out at the plate. The Zebras would answer with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning and led the Norse 6-3 heading to the sixth.
In the sixth Nate Drancik would lead off with a single. With one out Trevor Burnworth would reach on an error. With two outs both runners would advance a base on a wild pitch before a Rosen single scored both to make it 6-5.
The Norse would would score two again in the seventh. Tomlinson would lead off with a single and was sacfificed to second by Hartman. Tomlinson would then advance to third on a passed ball before Blake Harner was intentionally walked. Harner would promptly steal second before a Coe ground out scored Tomlinson, tying the game 6-6 with Harner taking third. Drancik would then single home Harner for a 7-6 lead. The Norse had to work for the win in the bottom of the inning when the first Rochester batter singled before Harner recorded a strike out. A walk would put runners on first and second before an infield pop up and a strike out ended the game.
