Everyone knew it was going to be a pitchers dual for the TRC title Wednesday as Wabash played host to Maconaquah for a winner take all battle for the conference title.
In typical fashion Kory Fuller would have total command of his control, giving up just 5 hits while walking none in a 2-0 shut out win over the Braves.Fuller gave up two singles in the first inning before settling in to allow just three more hits the remainder of the game while keeping Maconaquah off balance. The Apaches managed just 8 hits off Braves ace Ethan Larason, scoring solo runs in the third and sixth.
Maconaquah would threaten in the first when Cody Koebler led off with a single and was followed by a Hunter Hays single. Fuller would then force a fly out before the Apaches turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat.
The first run of the game came in the third. Reece Samons would lead off with a single. With one out Robert Irgang singled with Samons advancing to third. Trenton Daughtry would follow with a ground out to short with Samons scoring for a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth Aaron Sedwick led off reaching on an error before Fuller went to work, striking out the next two before a ground out ended the inning. Wabash would threaten in the bottom of the inning when Clayton Floor led off with a single before a Larason strike out. Blake Gribben would then walk before Larason forced a ground out and got a strike out.
The Apaches would add their second run in the sixth. With one out Jared Holley would single and was followed by a Gribben single. Fuller would then draw a walk to load the bases before a Samons infield single scored Holley to make it 2-0. With the bases still loaded Larason would get a strike out before a ground out ended the jam.
Fuller would get two ground outs to start the seventh inning before Alspaugh drilled a double to left center. Fuller would then get a fly out to center to end the game.
