The Wabash Lady Apaches got a walk off single from Erica King as they defeated Maconaquah 8-7 Wednesday.
Maconaquah would grab a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a Wolf home run with the Apaches getting the run back in the bottom of the inning. Bre Sewell would lead off with a double. After a Katie Newman walk with one out Sewell would score on a wild pitch to tie the score.
In the third Swihart would draw a one out walk before Holly Morris reached on an error. With runners on the corners Swihart would be picked off third before a Shelby Spence single scored Moris to give the Braves a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the inning Bailey Yoakum would lead off with a walk before stealing second. King would then reach on a fielders choice before a Kelley single scored Yoakum. King would then score on a wild pitch to give Wabash a 3-2 lead before a Sewell single scored Kelley for a 4-2 lead. With two outs Newman would single home Sewell to lead 5-2.
Maconaquah would bounce back in the top of the fourth. With one out Miracle would single and take second on a wild pitch. With two outs a Pyke single would chase home Miracle. Thompson would follow with a single before a Swihart single made it 5-4. Morris would then single home Thompson and Swihart to give the Braves a 6-5 lead. Spence would drive home the final run of the inning as Maconaquah led 7-5. Wabash would tie the game in the bottom of the inning. Alivia Short would single and was followed by Yoakum and King being hit by pitches to load the bases. A Kelley ground out would score Short to make it 7-6 before a Kelsie Olinger fly out scored Yoakum to make it 7-7.
After combining for 14 runs the first 4 innings the game would go to the bottom of the seventh still tied. With two outs Short would single and advance to second when Yoakum reached on an error. King would then single home Short for the walk off 8-7 win.
