The Southwood Knights grabbed an early 7-1 lead Wednesday before North Miami out scored Southwood 8-1 the final four innings in a 9-8 loss to the Warriors.
The Knights would grab a 2-0 lead in the first when Mason Yentes led off reaching on an error. With one out Logan Barley would double home Yentes to lead 1-0. Alex Farr would follow with a single to score Barley for a 2-0 lead.
North Miami would score a run in the second. Henderson led off with a single and advanced to second on an error. Henderson would then be caught trying to steal third before Carter drew a walk. Carter would then take second on a passed ball and third on a wild pitch before scoring on an error.
The Knights would make a move in the third. Yentes would lead off with a single and was followed by a Carson Rich walk. A Barley single would then score Yentes to make it 3-1. Farr would follow with a ground out that chased home Rich to make it 4-1. The single parade would continue when Cam Ball singled home Barley to give the Knights a 5-1 lead. Clayton Wells would follow with a single to put runners on first and second before a Gabe Lloyd single loaded the bases. Tristin Hayslett would then fly out to center with Ball tagging up to score. With two outs Wells would score on a balk to make it 7-1.
North Miami would get a couple runs back in the top of the fourth. Musselman would lead off with a single and was followed by Henderson reaching on an error. Carter would then walk to load the bases before a Masters single made it 7-2. With one out Masters would fly out with Henderson scoring for a 7-3 score.
The Warriors would draw even closer in the fifth. Gunter would lead off reaching on an error and was followed by a Matt Stewart two run home run to close the deficit to 7-5.
North Miami would grab the lead in the sixth. With one out Josh Mongosa would be hit by a pitch before a Masters single. Zane Briggs would then draw a walk. A Gunter single would tie the score before a Stewart sac fly drove home Briggs to give the Warriors an 8-7 lead. Collins would follow with a single that scored Gunter to make it 9-7.
The Knights would try to make the come back in the bottom of the seventh. Barley would lead off with a single and was followed by a Farr single to put runners on the corners. With one out Barley would score on a passed ball with Farr taking second. With two outs Lloyd would draw a walk before a strike out ended the game.
